QUESTION: "Some people don't believe that there are any other Apostles outside of the original 12 & Paul (saying we don't see the micarlous signs (e.g peter's healing shadow in Acts) & no prophets since John the Baptist. What do you say about this belief?"

ANSWER: "Miraculous signs and wonders are not necessarily the signs of the apostolic and prophetic ministry, this is because evangelists like Phillip also worked miracles (1 Corinthians 12 clearly explains working of miracles as a gift any believer can have, it is not an exclusive possession of the apostles and prophets) Ephesians 4:8-13 states that Jesus ascended on high (after his death) and gave gifts to men, then I went further to state the gifts, "he gave some apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers" Notice that based on this scripture this giving of ministry gifts to mankind happened after Jesus had gone to heaven, so for those who argue that the only apostles are the ones that walked with Christ, hey have missed it! For the body of Christ to become fully mature, she needs the operation of these five offices, without them functioning she cannot be perfected! Understand that miracles cannot grow the body of Christ, they can heal the body of man and give him a sense of awe of God, but it can never grow his spirit. So when Jesus gave the gifts, the working of miracles and signs was the last thing on his mind, the primary assignment of the five fold ministry is to administer the word to the saints and build in them the spirit of Christ through instruction and discipleship, they are supposed to work together as a team to produce the likeness of Christ in the community of saints by building up each believer in the word and spirit. The five fold work by the evangelist reaching out to prospective kingdom citizens and getting them to submit to the lordship or Christ, the pastors nurture the believers and the teachers instruct them in the principles of the scripture whilst the prophet helps them develop spiritual discernment, sensitivity and awareness, the apostles then help with the integration of saints into function within the Ekklesia After all, the Ekklesia is not a miracle jamboree, it is meant to be the nation of God on earth, a people with a shared nature, culture and mission which is to establish the kingdom of God in the experience of men The five fold are the tools Jesus Christ uses to perfect his body "
