QUESTION: "As a Christian, is there anything wrong with going to a Christian event where there will be doing break dancing, drama etc? or is it not edifying?"

Pastor's response...

ANSWER: "Some ‘outreach’ type Christian meetings actually use these sorts of meetings to reach out to those in the world, this is good, as long as there is a plan to reach out to them with the gospel. There are many ‘Christian’ themed events that do not really honour Christ, but are just ways in which carnal believers are gratifying their desires by giving it a godly flavour. So you need to be careful. Luke 16:15 But Jesus told them: You are always making yourselves look good, but God sees what is in your heart. The things that most people think are important are worthless as far as God is concerned. (Contemporary English Version) Whenever you find a lot of immature believers attending an event, or you find that unbelievers are comfortable, you should be careful. You may ask yourselves the following questions to help you decide if to attend a function: 1. Is Christ being preached and is his person and values being extolled? 2. What types of people from the majority of the attendee? What type of fruits do their Christian lives bear, if they are more world- like, be careful 3. Do the activities of the day appeal more to your body, soul, or spirit? 4. Is it the kind of place or activity that if Christ were to come whilst you were there, you wouldn’t feel a sense of guilt? "
