QUESTION: "I've heard it said that SIT is the evidence that one has received the Holy Spirit and until a person SIT, the Holy Spirit has not come upon them. What are your thoughts please?"

Pastor's response...

ANSWER: "Yes SIT (speaking with tongues) is the evidence of having received the Holy Spirit. However if a believer hasn't SIT after being prayed for, it doesn't mean that he/she has not received the Holy Spirit (HS), because when we ask to receive him, he IMMEDIATELY comes in. What usually happens is 1. The believer is ignorant of the fact that he/ she has to cooperate with the indwelling HS by speaking with tongues 2. The believer is scared to yield their tongue to the inspiration that is now bubbling from their spirit( for most people it feels so strange, since it's the first time their mouth is speaking from their spirit asides from their brain.) So when we ask, we immediately receive him, but we also have a part to play. We must BELIEVE we have received him, and then BEGIN to speak with tongues and he will continue to GIVE us the UTTERANCE (what to say) See Acts 2:1-4 They BEGAN to speak with tongues as the Spirit GAVE them UTTERANCE! The Holy Spirit WILL NOT speak in tongues through you, what he does is GIVE you what to say when YOU yield your tongue in faith and BEGIN to speak with tongues "
