QUESTION: "Is it Gods will then for a Christian to suffer?"

Pastor's response...

ANSWER: "Regarding the issue of suffering though, I believe that God's will for us is not that we suffer. If a person is persecuted for the gospel, I believe that God would even make grace available so that person doesn't suffer. Christ endured the suffering on our behalf. The Greek word 'Sozo' translated 'save' or 'saved' means " to save, to make whole, to preserve or to make safe". True, the grace of God is at work in the believer's life & we're saved from the power, the presence & the penalty of sin. Do you know that there are not many scriptures (if any) that promise that a Christian would not suffer, in fact there are more scriptures that promise suffering, tribulation, trials, persecution.... (see the scriptures I posted earlier) However we are not to allow the devil to afflict us. (this kind of suffering is not allowed) If we are persecuted for righteousness sake, we must bear it with grace (this is allowable suffering) If our faith is being tried through tests, we must bear it with patience (this is allowable suffering) If our flesh is being tried by obedience to the word, we must rejoice in this ( this is allowable suffering) I hope this answers your question ?
